Frequently Asked Questions
What is Exodus WildSchool?
Exodus WildSchool is a fully immersive, faith-based nature education collaborative program that blends homeschooling with outdoor exploration. Established in 2021, our mission is one where we strive to nurture the growth of the whole child by offering paths into nature, & allowing children to lead the way in their own education.
Our hands-on curriculum is designed to help children explore their interests in a natural environment, fostering a deep connection to creation and the Creator. Guided by skilled Wild Rangers, Campus Leaders, and Tribe Leaders, our Forest Scouts engage in activities like building shelters, creating plant medicine, learning survival skills, tracking wildlife, and creating nature-inspired art, all while developing a sense of community and belonging.
What is the difference between the in-person and online membership options?
We offer two flexible ways for families to experience our nature-based, faith-rooted curriculum:
🌿 WildCrew Tribes (Group/ Co-Op Option)
Perfect for co-ops, small groups, or friends who want to learn together in person! A Tribe Leader guides the group using our full curriculum. Families can either form a new Tribe or bring WildCrew into an existing group. Each child—whom we call our Forest Scouts!—will need their own WildSchool Passport to track progress and earn badges. (Passports are not included with Tribe membership but can be ordered separately, at a discount for Verified Tribes.)
🌿 WildCrew Family Membership (Individual Option)
Ideal for families who want to explore at their own pace and their own location, with their immediate family! Whether you’re homeschooling, unschooling, or just looking for meaningful outdoor experiences, this option gives you full curriculum access to use anytime, anywhere—with no group required.
✨ Looking for our Main Campus?
While most of our in-person experiences now run through the Tribe model, we continue to offer limited enrollment at our original Main Campus, where students meet regularly under the leadership of our on-staff Wild Rangers.
No matter which path you choose, your family will experience deeply rooted learning—grounded in nature, wonder, and faith.
How does the online WildCrew membership work for groups or co-ops?
WildCrew is our flexible forest school model that empowers families, co-ops, and homeschool groups to create their own outdoor learning tribes—anywhere in the country!
If you’re hoping to join a local Tribe, new groups are forming as more families step up to lead. Exodus WildCrew creates a nature-based, faith-filled experience where kids learn wilderness skills, complete hands-on challenges, and build lasting friendships! You can find our current list of Tribes to join, here on our Tribes page!

What does a typical wildschooling day look like?
A typical day at Exodus WildSchool begins with a warm welcome and a moment to gather as a group, having Bible devotions and prayer time as a group. From there, our Forest Scouts (students) dive into hands-on, nature-based activities led by our Wild Rangers or Tribe Leaders, like tracking animal prints, building shelters, or foraging wild plants for food or medicine. There’s plenty of time for exploration, group challenges, sharing stories, and quiet moments to connect with God’s creation. Every day wraps up with reflection and sharing, helping students process their discoveries and celebrate their growth! You can see more about what our in-person forest school days look like, here.
What subjects does this curriculum cover?
Is this a daily curriculum?
It’s really up to you! Our curriculum is designed as a rich, weekly experience that adds depth and adventure to your homeschooling journey. You can spread the activities out to make it a daily curriculum if that works better for your family, but we recommend setting aside one day each week as your dedicated forest school day. It usually takes about 4–5 hours, depending on how many Scouts you have, and makes for a really special day together in nature!
Is there a trial period or way to view the curriculum before committing?
What age groups is the program designed for?
Our curriculum is designed for children ages 4 to 16, with activities tailored to different skill levels. Older students have the opportunity to take on leadership roles, guiding and mentoring younger peers, which fosters a sense of responsibility and community. At the same time, younger students spark curiosity and wonder in older participants, rekindling their connection with nature.
Our WildCrew membership is also designed to accommodate mixed-age groups, making it a great fit for families or small co-ops! It is easily adaptable, and we are happy to share that students of all ages benefit from our program... from as young as 2 years old, up to 102!
Do parents need to stay on-site, or is it a drop-off program?
While we do not require parents to volunteer or teach, generally, a parent or legal guardian is required to stay on-site (and be hands-on, interacting!) with their child for each forest school day. This creates a supportive community where families can share in the learning experience and connect with one another while children explore and grow! Parents can observe, participate, or simply enjoy the natural setting alongside their children.
WildCrew Tribes may vary; you'll want to check with your Tribe Leader to know for certain!
What is the cost for WildCrew membership?
For the WildCrew online membership, your monthly subscription includes full access to our forest school curriculum, weekly activity guides, and our online community. For more details & pricing, please visit our WildCrew page.
What should my child bring to WildSchool each day?
Across all Campuses & Tribes, as well as individual families using the curriculum at home, each child should be prepared for their forest school day with:
- Weather-appropriate clothing: Dress in layers, rain boots or hiking boots, and include a jacket if needed.
- A change of clothes: Adventures in nature can get wonderfully messy!
- A backpack: To carry items, including:
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Water canteen to stay hydrated throughout the day
There are a few additional items your child may need, and every week, our curriculum comes with a supply list, as materials may vary depending on the activities.
How do I apply to Exodus WildSchool?
Applying to Exodus WildSchool is easy! We recommend reviewing our Tribe offerings or WildCrew individual online membership options first, to ensure you choose the best fit for your family’s needs. (See the comparison here!)
